Summer Evening #1

A few days ago I took a bicycle trip to a nearby village, in the middle of the local “lakes”. On that trip I made some really nice photos, which I will be posting here. They (nearly) all have one thing in common: They are focused on a low, red sun.

Note that unlike some pictures I posted a few weeks ago, these are all completely original, no Photoshop. More coming later!

I like the summer. It’s days are long, it’s evenings warm. It’s the only time of year when you can make photos like this at 9.30 PM:

Grassland HDR Photos

Here are two HDR photos I made this evening. They’re my first ever, so be kind .

For the first one, I took two pictures with my camera phone, which I merged with Photoshop (I used automerge to align the pictures, but did the mixing by hand).

For the second one, I only took one picture. I made a copy of it, changed some settings on both and merged them by hand.

Open Days RNLAF 2008

A week ago I went to the open days of the Dutch Airforce, this year in Leeuwarden. It was a long but interesting and amusing trip. There was a lot to see, on the ground and naturally in the air as well, including spectacular stunt shows and even a ground attack demonstration (my ears still hurt). I’ve captured the highlights for you.

I haven’t shot any video footage, but YouTube is filled with it.

[Lnl]Deze heb ik 2 jaar geleden tijdens een barbecue met vrienden gemaakt. Twee van de gasten gingen bootjevaren op de Kraaijenbergse Plassen. Excuses voor de slechte kwaliteit, de foto is gemaakt met mijn 4 jaar oude telefoon.[/Lnl][Luk]This photo is 2 years old, I made it when barbecueing with friends. Two of them decided to go paddling on the lake. Sorry for the bad quality, I used my 4 year old phone to shoot this.[/Luk]

[Luk]I made this a few years back when I was at the coast with friends. I saw this chair-thing and thought I’d use it for a little depth illusion.[/Luk][Lnl]Deze foto heb ik paar jaar geleden gemaakt, toen ik met vrienden naar de kust was. Ik zag dit stoeleding en kreeg het idee om een diepteillusie te scheppen.[/Lnl]

[Lnl]De afgelopen dagen heb ik het redelijk druk gehad, dus heb ik de Foto van de Dag even overgeslagen. Nu gaan we gewoon weer verder. Overigens zal ik in de toekomst wel vaker een dagje overslaan, maar dat zie je dan wel.[/Lnl][Luk]The last few days I’ve been rather busy, so I’ve skipped the Photo of the Day for a while, to continue now. [Lnl]Deze foto heb ik al weer 2 jaar geleden gemaakt op de (toen nog) Power Unlimited Gameplay. Het is geen foto van bijzonder hoge kwaliteit, maar ik vond het contrast tussen de twee personen wel grappig.[/Lnl][Luk]I made this picture 2 years ago at the Power Unlimited Gameplay convention. It’s not a photo of especially high quality, but I thought the contrast between the two persons on it was rather funny.[/Luk]
